Have you ever imagined being able to experience prehistory? The archaeological site of the Terramara di Montale offers a return to the Bronze Age thanks to the reconstruction of part of the village of this civilisation that flourished around the middle of the 2nd millennium B.C. In addition to the evocative environment, engaging activities for adults and children are periodically offered.
The Vignola Fortress is a very well-preserved ancient building, which above all tells us how people lived in the 15th century. The families who owned the Fortress had numerous animals painted in the rooms on the ground floor: cheetahs, lions, doves, a lamb, eagles and even imaginary animals such as a dragon or a griffin. Going up to the first floor, we can, instead, find many rooms depicting scenes from everyday life (or almost): in the very small hall of the dogs we can observe a hare hunt and in the hall of the pavilion, on the other hand, a wedding in the garden of the Fortress (no longer visible today, but at least... imaginable!).
Walking through this fairytale park, you can meet your favourite characters from timeless tales. The green area is dotted with sculptures dedicated to fairy tales, play areas and a number of musical instruments for the family to enjoy.
The exhibition allows us to appreciate the faithful reconstruction of sumptuous Renaissance dresses embroidered by hand by the volunteers of the Dama Vivente association. You can wonder at the details and imagine yourself in the shoes of ladies and gentlemen of the time.
The ‘ART in WOOD’ route starts at the Chestnut and Borlengo Museum in Zocca and shows us how art and nature are able to interact, enlivening each other and surprising everyone. You can enjoy discovering the works scattered around the park!
