Stages

  • centro nuoto
    Percorso Sole
    Vignola

We start from the Percorso Sole (Sun Trail) on the left bank of the Panaro river, next to the Vignola swimming centre. The path allows us to immerse ourselves in the river landscape characterised by the presence of a great variety of flora, the different aspects of the riverbed, marked by successive phases of erosion, by deposits and sediments, and by walls and artefacts built in different eras to defend the waters.

  • Sanctuary of the Madonna della Pieve
    Vignola

Reaching the Sanctuary with its centuries-old history along a cypress-lined path, we arrive at the square in the middle of which stands the Holy Family by the Vignola artist Marco Fornaciari. Of the original Romanesque church, only the apse and the bases of the cross-shaped pillars are recognisable today. Enjoy the tranquillity of the site for a short break.

  • VILLA RIPANDELLI MARTUZZI
    Villa Ripandelli Martuzzi
    Vignola

We take a dirt road that climbs in a gentle walk towards the ridge of the Vignola hill of Campiglio. On the way is Villa Martuzzi, a place of significant historical importance for the Vignola community.

  • Village of Campiglio
    Vignola

We continue on to the ancient village of Campiglio. Take your time to walk around the church of Saint Michael the Archangel, which stands on the buttresses of the ancient fortress and rests its apse on the medieval tower.

  • punti panoramici terre di castelli modena vignola campiglio
    Cypresses of Santa Croce
    Vignola

We continue up the asphalt road towards the Santa Croce cypress trees. From this vantage point par excellence, it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking view of the village of Campiglio and the Panaro valley.

  • Villabianca
    Marano sul Panaro

Continuing along the same road, we reach the small village of Villabianca. The walk is again full of panoramic viewpoints and views over cultivated fields. The ancient hamlet stands isolated on the edge of an area affected by a vast landslide movement.

  • Piazza Matteotti
    Marano sul Panaro

Retracing your steps slightly, you can end the itinerary with a descent towards Marano sul Panaro, crossing the rolling hills until you reach Piazza Matteotti, the hub of the town. There the ‘Grama’ awaits you, the cool fountain that has been supplying water to the town for hundreds of years!
