The Circolo Modenese Dance Society presents a spectacular performance of ladies and gentlemen in magnificent period costumes.
Etiquette, dance relationships, choreography, and music are the heart of this event, recreating a festive 19th-century atmosphere within the enchanting setting of Montecuccoli Castle and on the Belvedere terrace, known as "The Balcony of Emilia." The dances presented include quadrilles, country dances, waltzes, polkas, and figured mazurkas.
The Dance Society conducts historical research in the field of 19th-century traditional dances, combining philological precision in the interpretation of old dance manuals with the opportunity to recreate and breathe new life into ancient dances in contemporary social contexts.
The Association aims to revive dances belonging to the European tradition that were lost during the 20th century: quadrilles, country dances, waltzes, polkas, and figured mazurkas. The Association's work focuses on the rediscovery of the artistic technique that, in the 19th century, made these dances the subject of interest for the greatest dance masters of the time, even before they became a phenomenon of mass entertainment.
